WestFood Connects Government, Academia, and Industry to Advance Sustainable Development

01/07/2026

Recently, WestFood welcomed a delegation comprising representatives from the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade, faculty members from the National Economics University (NEU), and participants of the Executive Master’s Program for a site visit, factory tour, and knowledge-sharing session. The program served as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among academia, businesses, and government agencies while exchanging practical experiences and effective development models to support sustainable economic growth.

The visit was organized as part of a collaborative initiative between the National Economics University and local government authorities to strengthen the connection between education, research, and real-world business practices. Through the factory tour, participants gained firsthand insights into the operations of an export-oriented agricultural processing enterprise, explored modern management practices, and learned about the sustainable development initiatives being implemented at WestFood.

WestFood welcomes representatives from the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade and the National Economics University.

During the visit, the delegation toured WestFood’s production facilities, gaining a comprehensive understanding of its processing operations, quality control procedures, and production management system. The discussions also focused on issues that are increasingly important to businesses, including the development of standardized raw material zones, the application of advanced processing technologies, energy efficiency, green supply chain development, and the roadmap toward achieving Net Zero.

As export markets continue to impose stricter requirements on traceability, carbon emission reduction, and sustainability, the transition toward greener production has become a business necessity rather than simply a market trend. Investing in modern technology, optimizing production processes, and developing sustainable raw material sources not only enhance competitiveness but also increase the value of Vietnamese agricultural products in international markets.

With many years of experience in frozen fruit and vegetable processing for export, WestFood has identified sustainable development as a core pillar of its long-term strategy. The company continues to invest in advanced technologies, improve energy efficiency, strengthen partnerships with farming regions, and gradually build a green value chain that meets the increasingly demanding standards of global export markets.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Chairwoman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of WestFood, said: “We are always willing to share our practical experience in building and developing our business with educational institutions and government agencies. Programs like this not only help disseminate effective management models but also create valuable opportunities for mutual learning between businesses, experts, lecturers, and students. WestFood believes that close collaboration among academia, industry, and government will foster innovation, develop high-quality human resources, and strengthen the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in an increasingly integrated global economy.”

The working session provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among academia, industry, and government.

Beyond its manufacturing activities, WestFood actively participates in partnership programs with universities, research institutions, and government agencies to exchange practical knowledge, stay informed about emerging industry trends, and collaborate on solutions to challenges facing both businesses and the agricultural processing sector.

Through this program, WestFood hopes to continue working alongside government agencies to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and industry, creating more opportunities for lecturers, students, and policymakers to gain practical exposure to modern manufacturing while encouraging innovation in management, business development, and sustainability. The initiative also reflects WestFood’s commitment to building a collaborative ecosystem that connects businesses, educational institutions, and public authorities to enhance workforce quality, promote innovation, and create greater value for Vietnam’s agricultural processing industry in the years ahead.
