On September 6, 2026, the School of Economics – Can Tho University and WestFood Hau Giang Joint Stock Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), opening up opportunities to strengthen university–business connections, develop high-quality human resources, and create more local employment opportunities for students in the Mekong Delta.

For WestFood, alongside investing in technology, factories, raw material areas, and expanding export markets, the Company also places strong emphasis on continuously developing a workforce with professional expertise and the ability to adapt to an international business environment.
In particular, the WestFood Hau Giang Factory, which commenced operations in September 2025, is creating demand for human resources across various fields, including international business, logistics, supply chain management, marketing, human resources management, and digital business.
This is one of the reasons WestFood has chosen to strengthen its cooperation with Can Tho University – a prestigious university that currently provides high-quality human resources for the region.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of WestFood, said: “A business seeking sustainable development in a locality needs a high-quality workforce right there in the local community. The lecturers and the University equip students with knowledge, while WestFood will provide them with opportunities to gain practical experience in international business. We are committed to accompanying the University in nurturing young talent from the time they are still at university through to after they graduate.”

According to WestFood, the advantage of human resources trained in the Mekong Delta lies in the combination of professional knowledge, an international mindset, and an understanding of the local context. Students are equipped not only with knowledge of business, markets, logistics, and supply chains, but also with an understanding of the people, culture, and economic characteristics of the region.
This foundation aligns well with the needs of WestFood – a company that has grown from the agricultural resources of the Mekong Delta while expanding toward markets around the world. When students are trained and have opportunities to work right in the region, businesses can gain access to suitable human resources, while young people have more opportunities to build their careers in their hometowns. In the long term, this can help reduce the outflow of labor from the region while enabling businesses to be more proactive in attracting and retaining talent.
For WestFood, creating employment and developing local human resources not only benefits the Company but also forms part of its commitment to contributing to the socio-economic development of the local community.
Through the partnership, WestFood aims to create more opportunities for students to gain exposure to the corporate environment while they are still at university. Internships, company visits, career talks, and professional knowledge-sharing activities will provide students with greater practical experience, help them better understand labor market requirements, and proactively prepare for their career paths after graduation.

Students have the opportunity to learn about practical operations at WestFood.
In particular, students will have opportunities to gain exposure to real-world challenges faced by an agricultural processing and export company, spanning raw material areas, production, supply chains, markets, and international customers.
At the same time, WestFood also aims to bring its practical business experience back to the university, contributing to education, career orientation, and research activities, thereby helping ensure that academic programs are increasingly aligned with the actual needs of businesses.
Building on the foundation established through this partnership, WestFood and the School of Economics – Can Tho University expect to gradually develop a substantive, long-term, and mutually beneficial relationship, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources, creating more local employment opportunities, and supporting the socio-economic development of Can Tho and the Mekong Delta.
