At the conference to acclaim productive farmers’ households as also innovative startup models and 2020 enterprises in Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province, Westfood was honored and awarded certificates of merit by the People’s Committee of Phung Hiep district. Westfood’s outstanding achievements to contribute to the development of the local social and economic activities in 2020.
At the conference, Mr. Bui Duc Hoan – Deputy General Director of Finance and Material Area Project of Westfood also made a speech with the topic “MD2 Pineapple Cooperation Project – Westfood in Phuong Binh commune, Phung Hiep district. , Hau Giang province”.

In December 2017, the first MD2 pineapple trees were planted in the area of Tram Buu Long, Phuong Thanh hamlet, Phuong Binh commune, Phung Hiep district with the method of cooperation of three (03) sides: the government, farmers and entrepreneurs. Notably, the government plays the role of guiding farmers to change the crop structure, building and managing the Cooperative Group and ensuring the implementation of contracts on both sides, enterprises and farmers. Farmers (MD2 pineapple farmers cooperating with Westfood) play the role of soil preparation, seeding, planting, caring and harvesting in accordance with the technical instructions of Westfoods; supply all of the products and pay Westfoods seeds at the price fixed in the Contract. Entrepreneurs (ie Westfoods) play the role of seeding, assigning all techniques, purchasing all of the products and collecting the money from seed under the contract.

Up to now, after more than 3 years, the total area of MD2 pineapple growing area in Phuong Binh commune has reached 80 hectares, of which 33 hectares achieved GlobalGAP certification. The fruit quality meets the requirements, the harvested fruit yield by 2020 will reach 1,100 tons. Westfood has also cooperated with Phung Hiep district government to establish Westfoods – Buu Long High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative Group. People cooperating with Westfood get 85 million VND / ha / year for 30% ditch land, 70% for MD2 pineapple, not including income from fish ditches, water lilies …

In the coming time, Westfood will continue to expand the MD2 pineapple cooperative project in Hau Giang province. In the period of 2021 – 2025, Westfood keep on expanding the progress of the MD2 pineapple Material Zone of high quality, stability and sustainable development with an area of 500 hectares; in which, area meeting GlobalGAP standard is at least 300 hectares. In addition, Westfood also aims to frame the MD2 pineapple branding – Westfoods associated with local geographical indications with the desire to contribute to the crop restructuring program in Phuong Binh commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province, which helps people increase their income and improve their lives.
