Westfood is known as one of the most modern canned fruit processing companies in Vietnam. Today, Westfood’s products have been distributed worldwide and are favored in high-end and demanding markets such as the US, Japan, South Korea, and countries in America and Europe.
Compared to when it was first established, the company’s current charter capital has reached over VND 302 billion, a 30-fold increase from the initial days. In 2022, Westfood’s revenue was recorded at VND 320 billion, and it is expected to continue growing in 2023, estimated to reach VND 410 billion.
According to Vietnam’s export data in 2022, Westfood currently ranks 4th in export value for frozen fruits, and is in the top 10 canned fruit exporting companies.
To achieve its current position, in addition to the hard work and unity of its staff, Westfood continuously seeks the most advanced processing technologies to create new products and meet the diverse needs of customers. Westfood’s fruit products are all processed and packaged at a modern, internationally standard factory, under the strict supervision of experienced experts in the industry. Simultaneously, Westfood constantly strives to bring prosperity to partners throughout the ecosystem, including creating jobs and increasing income for workers and farmers, developing local socio-economics, and bringing benefits to customers and shareholders.
With the growing demands of the market, Westfood’s leadership sees great potential for the development of the agricultural sector in general and of Westfood in particular in the future. The company has specific development plans to further promote Vietnamese processed fruit products on the world map.
In the 10-Year Development Plan up to 2030, Westfood aims to be a multi-billion VND company, pushing the Westfood brand higher and further both domestically and internationally.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet revealed that a major plan in 2023 for the company is to start the construction of the European standard Westfood factory in Hau Giang, with a land area of 70,000 m2, and to start operations in 2024. The factory will create jobs for thousands of workers, help absorb the products of local farmers, and ensure outlets for agricultural products locally.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of Westfood, said that the company is implementing an investment in a modern agricultural processing factory in Hau Giang Province.
It is expected that after completion, this project will become one of the largest agricultural processing factories in the Western region, helping Westfood to create many new high-quality standard product lines in addition to the current products. Simultaneously, it will contribute to the socio-economic development of Hau Giang Province.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hau Giang Provincial People’s Committee Truong Canh Tuyen highly appreciates the contributions of Westfood to the local socio-economic development.
In relation to this project, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang Province, added that the province has approved the investment for Westfood’s project to build a fruit processing factory in Song Hau Industrial Park (Chau Thanh district), with an area of about 7 hectares. Currently, the company is completing procedures to start the project in September 2023. This is also one of the events in a series of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the province.
n addition to investing in infrastructure, one of Westfood’s strengths in the field of agricultural exports is self-sufficiency in raw materials, notably the King MD2 pineapple area – one of the sweetest and most evenly sized pineapple varieties in the world. In 2022, Westfood planted 140 hectares of MD2 pineapple, expected to reach 1,000 hectares by 2028. Among these, the area meeting the Global Gap standard accounts for 50% of the total area. In addition to King Md2 pineapple, the company also plans to develop raw material areas for its key products such as mango, lotus seeds, papaya, and dragon fruit.
Speaking at the 20th anniversary of Westfood’s establishment, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen expressed that Westfood has made an extremely important contribution to the development of Hau Giang Province. Particularly, Mr. Tuyen highly appreciated the company’s development of raw material areas in Hau Giang, which is of great concern to the province as it contributes to crop conversion and increases the income of local people.
“Over a period of 20 years, which is neither long nor short, but with the achievements of Westfood, we believe that the company will achieve more success in the future, contributing to the development of Hau Giang Province,” Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen expressed.
In the near future, Westfood will enter the domestic market through supermarket and Horeca channels, aiming to bring fresh, quality products to Vietnamese consumers.
With a far-reaching vision, grasping the potential and development opportunities in the field of agricultural product exports, Westfood promises to become a bright spot on the journey to elevate Vietnamese fruit, turning Westfood into an ambassador of Vietnam’s tropical fruit brand on the international stage.
