WestFood and Dutch Delegation Discuss Solutions for Sustainable Agricultural Development

02/02/2026

On January 20, 2026, a delegation from the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature visited and held a working session with WestFood Company. The visit reflects the strong interest of Dutch agencies and organizations in Vietnam’s agricultural and food processing sectors, while opening opportunities for professional exchange and cooperation in promoting sustainable agriculture in the Mekong Delta region.

The delegation included more than 30 representatives from Dutch companies, universities, and organizations operating in various fields such as crop breeding, water management and technology, greenhouse technology, soil analysis, finance, and academia. During the program, the delegation toured WestFood’s facilities and learned more about the company’s production activities, product portfolio, and the raw material development programs that WestFood has been implementing.

At the working session, WestFood representatives presented an overview of the company’s formation and development, along with its production orientation linked to raw material areas and solutions aimed at improving product quality to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of both domestic and international markets. The discussion focused on sustainable approaches in agricultural supply chain management, strengthening connections between enterprises and farmers, and applying science and technology in production and processing.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha, Executive Director of WestFood, shared: “WestFood considers the sustainable development of raw material areas as the foundation of its long-term growth strategy. Hosting the Dutch delegation provides us with an opportunity to exchange international experiences in land, crop, and water management, thereby gradually improving production efficiency and enhancing the value of agricultural products.”

From the delegation’s side, representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature highly appreciated WestFood’s efforts in linking production with raw material development and supporting farmers. A representative of the delegation noted: “The Mekong Delta is facing many challenges related to climate change, land management, and water resources. We believe that through professional exchanges and cooperation between enterprises and research organizations from both sides, more practical solutions can be developed and applied in reality.”

In addition to learning about WestFood’s operational model, both sides discussed challenges currently faced by farmers in the Mekong Delta, particularly in the context of increasingly evident climate change impacts. Issues such as saltwater intrusion, soil quality degradation, water resource management, and the selection of suitable crop varieties were openly discussed in the spirit of sharing experience and exploring effective approaches.

The visit also opened up future cooperation opportunities between WestFood and Dutch partners in areas such as research, technology transfer, human resource development, and the establishment of agricultural models adapted to Vietnam’s natural conditions. This is considered an important step toward strengthening connections among businesses, academic institutions, and international organizations in the pursuit of a modern and sustainable agricultural sector.

Through this working session, WestFood once again reaffirmed its development orientation toward sustainability, responsibility to farming communities and the environment, and its readiness to expand partnerships and learn from international experience in order to enhance production capacity and contribute positively to the development of Vietnam’s agricultural sector.
