On October 13th, in Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa province), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment organized a workshop to gather opinions and contributions for the draft Law on Geology and Minerals. At the workshop, natural alkaline mineral water Vikoda, from Khanh Hoa Mineral Water Joint Stock Company, was trusted and chosen as the exclusive water supplier for the event.
The workshop was attended by Mr. Tran Quy Kien – Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and Mr. Tran Hoa Nam – Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee.

The draft Law on Geology and Minerals consists of 132 articles and 13 chapters. At the workshop, nearly 100 delegates from departments, agencies, and businesses in the mining sector from Central and Southern provinces and cities provided feedback on the draft Law on Geology and Minerals on issues such as the authority to grant permits for the exploitation of ordinary building materials from the sea; planning for basic geological investigations in line with planning of related industries; regulations on environmental protection in the development of strategies and planning for mineral exploitation; rights and obligations of organizations and individuals in mineral exploitation; responsibilities of People’s Committees at all levels in protecting unexploited geological resources and minerals; regulations for individuals registering business in the field of mineral exploration, and more.

Through this workshop, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Drafting Board of the Geological and Minerals Law received many heartfelt and useful opinions from localities, enterprises, experts, organizations, and individuals operating in the field of geology and minerals to research and consult. This will contribute to the perfection of the Draft Law on Geology and Minerals for submission to competent authorities for consideration and approval.
