Recently, over 120 male and female athletes from various communities, clubs, and schools enthusiastically participated in the Nha Trang 2023 Sea Swimming, Coracle Swimming, and Coracle Shaking competition. This is one of the sports sponsored by Vikoda Natural Alkaline Mineral Water, characterizing the beach city and supporting the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa 2023 Sea Festival.
To kick off the sporting and entertainment activities in response to the 2023 Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival themed “Khanh Hoa – Aspiration for Development,” the Nha Trang People’s Committee recently organized the 2023 sea swimming, coracle swimming, and coracle shaking competition at Jellyfish Park, Tran Phu Beach, Nha Trang.
The competition attracted competitors of all ages. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the Nha Trang People’s Committee, said that the competition was organized to promote swimming activities and to publicize the unique marine sports of the Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa region to tourists.

In Khanh Hoa, the coracle is a common tool used by fishermen for catching seafood. The competitors used these as part of the competition during the biennial Sea Festival, making it a unique sporting event that attracts a large audience.
After the opening ceremony, in the sea swimming section, female athletes competed over a distance of 300m, while male athletes competed over 600m. After the sea swimming section, male and female coracle swimming and coracle-shaking athletes began their competition. They competed in three categories: male solo, female solo, and male-female pair; coracle swimming was over a distance of 200m, and coracle shaking over 100m. After an exciting day of competition, the organizers awarded nine medals to outstanding individuals, pairs, and teams.

However, to be able to shake and swim the coracle in the desired direction, one needs to master techniques such as standing posture on the coracle, hand positioning on the rim, or rowing movement, moving the whole body smoothly so the coracle goes forward.
