After successfully testing MD2 in Vi Thanh, Hau Giang, West Food continues to expand the project to farmers in Phong Dien district, Can Tho.
Last 12th January, at Truong Long People’s Committee Hall (Phong Dien district, Can Tho), West Food has organized a workshop “Implementing a cooperation project of MD2 production and consumption.” The conference has attracted a large number of farmers and People’s Committee representatives, departments of agriculture and local banks to participate.
This conference is the next step in West Food’s plan of MD2 deployment to 50 hectares in 2017, and increase 100 ha per year since 2018. Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Vu Loc – West Food CEO specially emphasis on the quality and superior productivity of MD2 versus Queen which currently popularitily grown in Vietnam. In parallel with a clear analysis of the advantages and appropriateness of MD2 with the climate and soil of Vietnam, West Food also summarize the experiences from MD2 experimental models have been very successful in Vi Thanh, Hau Giang.
In Can Tho, the project will be implemented as a cooperation between Westfood and farmers / cooperatives, with the participation of Phong Dien Agriculture and Rural Development Department, representatives of local banks. In particular, West Food will play a major role of providing seed, cultivation guidance and the sales of all products. After testing MD2 quality and populized the terms of cooperation, all participated gave positive opinion about the quality of fruit as well as the ability to perform this projects in the province. West Food believes that, with the success of the project in Vi Thanh, when replicated in Phong Dien, Can Tho, MD2 will also achieve the results which will meet the expectations of all parties involved in this project.
MD2 successfully implemented is one of the hallmarks of West Food in 2016. It is expected that, with the investment of the FIT Group, in 2017 West Food will expand, invest MD2 across the board, with the goal of self-reliance will 100% plant material for the next 3 years. This is a important factor for West Food to improve Vietnamese agricultural products export competitiveness in markets, ready to receive orders of the big partners in the world – Mr. Nguyen Vu Loc said.
