On the morning of September 26, in Chau Thanh Commune, WestFood Joint Stock Company for Export Food Processing (WestFood) held the inauguration ceremony of the WestFood Hau Giang Agro-Food Processing Plant. The project is part of the list of groundbreaking and inauguration works celebrating the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term.

The WestFood Hau Giang Plant was built on an area of 7 hectares with a total investment of more than VND 666 billion and a designed capacity of 30,000 tons of finished products per year. The factory is equipped with cutting-edge European-standard technology, including an Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) system, an automated three-tier conveyor line, automatic fruit peeling and cutting machines, automated canning and fruit cup production lines, and cold and chilled storage facilities with a capacity of up to 3,000 metric tons. Currently, WestFood employs more than 700 staff and workers, contributing to the socio-economic development of the local area.
Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Chairwoman and CEO of WestFood, shared: “The inauguration of the WestFood Hau Giang Plant is a great source of pride and also the result of more than 20 years of development. This is not only an important milestone for the company but also a testament to WestFood’s continued efforts to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products. WestFood is committed to continuously striving to create effective solutions that bring consumers the freshest and highest-quality fruits and vegetables.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, emphasized that Can Tho City has always focused on improving the investment environment, upgrading technical infrastructure, and enhancing human resource quality to attract large-scale, high-tech, and environmentally friendly projects.
He acknowledged the dedication of the management and staff of WestFood Hau Giang Joint Stock Company, the contractors, and all engineers and workers who overcame many difficulties and challenges to officially put the WestFood Hau Giang Agro-Food Processing Complex into operation.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Hoa proposed that the investor operate the project efficiently and use investment capital effectively; continue to upgrade technology, diversify products, expand export markets, and increase raw material areas to help the Can Tho agricultural brand reach further on the international market. He also encouraged the company to continue research and propose additional agro-food processing complex projects to maximize the city’s abundant agricultural resources.
On behalf of the local authorities, the Can Tho City government reaffirmed its commitment to accompany and support enterprises by creating the most favorable conditions for stable operations, sustainable development, and future production expansion.
