The WestFood Hau Giang Agricultural and Food Processing Plant was built on a 7-hectare site with a total investment of more than VND 666 billion and a designed capacity of 30,000 tons of finished products per year. This is among the largest agricultural processing plants in the Mekong Delta.
On the morning of September 26, WestFood Joint Stock Company for Export Food Processing (WestFood), located in the Nam Song Hau Industrial Park, Chau Thanh Commune, Can Tho City, held the inauguration ceremony of the WestFood Hau Giang Agricultural and Food Processing Plant — one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Mekong Delta.
The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art European-standard technology, including an Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) system, a three-tier automatic conveyor line, automatic fruit peeling and cutting machines, automated canned and cup fruit production lines, as well as cold and chilled storage facilities with a total capacity of up to 3,000 tons.
WestFood’s core products include canned fruits, IQF frozen fruits, pouch-packed fruits, semi-dried fruits, juices, and fresh produce. The company has also proactively developed its own raw material zone with 150 hectares of MD2 pineapple cultivation to ensure a stable and high-quality supply.
These products have already reached many demanding international markets such as the EU, the United States, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and China.
Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Chairwoman and CEO of WestFood, stated that after more than 20 years of construction and development, the WestFood brand has established a solid reputation in international markets and obtained leading global quality certifications, including FDA, IFS, KOSHER, BRC, HALAL, FSSC, and FSMA.
“The inauguration of the WestFood Hau Giang Plant is a great source of pride for us. This is not only an important milestone for the company but also a reaffirmation of WestFood’s continuous efforts to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products. Currently, WestFood employs more than 700 staff members, contributing significantly to local socio-economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, noted that the project is among the key works inaugurated to celebrate the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term.
According to him, after more than two years of construction, all project components have been completed. Once operational, the plant — equipped with advanced production lines — will create hundreds of local jobs, contribute to the city’s budget revenue, and help consume agricultural produce from Can Tho and neighboring provinces. This not only enhances the competitiveness of local agricultural products but also strengthens the global presence of Vietnamese agricultural brands.
